Nancy Rouillard
Nancy Young Dog Rouillard has lived in Denver/Boulder area since
1971. She has been on the Denver March Pow Wow Board of Directors
since 1990. She has chaired two different committees and
currently is the Chair of Registration.
Nancy and the late Owen Rouillard have five children. Iris is the oldest and has three children--Audrianna, Marvin Teck, and Tyler. Owen, Jr. has two children--Gatlin and Jalin. Cynthia has three children--Ronnie, Jr., Olivia, and Nicholas. Sherry is married to Richard Densmore and they have four children--Sierra, Santee, Ira, and Orion. Paula just gave birth to Aquira Lena Rouillard Maldonado on February 16. Paula is the youngest and was the 1992 Denver March Powwow Princess. Nancy is very proud of her children and 13 grandchildren.
Nancy was born and raised on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. She is an enrolled member of Oglala Lakota from the Pine Ridge Agency. She is the oldest daughter of Amos and Dora (Around Him) Young Dog. She has seven brothers--Verdell, Seymour, Marvin, Amos, Jr., Myron Shields, and the late Gary Young Dog and Lester Young Dog; two sisters Virginia Irving and the late Irene Roan Eagle.
Ms. Rouillard attended school at Oglala Community School in Pine Ridge and Brainard Indian School in Hot Springs, SD where she graduated. She also attended the Oglala Community College and the Boulder Vo-Tech. She has worked for Coors for five years, Valley Lab for three years, and IBM for 19 years. She began as an Electronic Technician and retired as a computer operator in Shipping and Receiving. During her tenure with IBM, she was transferred to Manassas, Virginia for two years.
